Our Mission on a Global Level
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries' Child Sponsorship exists to advocate for children who are destitute. Following the instruction of Jesus, NCM partners with local Nazarene congregations around the world to clothe, shelter, feed, heal, educate, and live in solidarity with those who suffer under oppression, injustice, violence, poverty, hunger, and disease.
Crisis Care Kits
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries provides disaster relief immediately following natural and man made disasters around the globe. One of our first relief efforts immediately following a disaster is the distribution of Crisis Care Kits, containing basic items for personal hygiene and comfort, to individuals who have been affected by the disaster.
These Crisis Care Kits are put together by individuals in local Nazarene churches, and are collected and shipped to NCM's warehouses, where they are stored until they are needed. We, at Living Hope Church, participate in this relief effort by collecting Crisis Care Kits throughout the year. Simply purchase the items for a Crisis Care Kit and deposit them in the church foyer anytime.
School Pal Paks
The Church of the Nazarene operates numerous primary schools around the world, providing quality education for children. Unfortunately, children around the world often do not have the supplies needed for school. In countries with economic challenges, families cannot afford to purchase supplies, or siblings are often required to share the supplies. In response to the need, Nazarene Missions International partners with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries to provide School Pal-Paks for these children.
School Pal Paks are put together by individuals in local Nazarene churches, and are collected and shipped to NCM's warehouses, where they are stored until they are needed. We, at Living Hope Church, assist in the education of children around the world by collecting School Pal Paks throughout the year. Simply purchase the items for a School Pal Pak and deposit them in the church foyer anytime.
Every year, in March, we celebrate Faith Promise Weekend with a guest speaker (often one of our Nazarene missionaries) who highlights an aspect or region of Nazarene Missions. During this weekend of missions emphasis, we prayerfully consider making personal or family Faith Promise Pledges for the upcoming year.
Faith Promise pledges primarily support the World Evangelism Fund, which funds the entire missions effort of the Church of the Nazarene, from the operation of our Global Ministries Center to the support of our individual missionaries around the world.
Our Faith Promise Pledges enable our missionaries to focus their energies on making and training disciples of Jesus Christ rather than on their own fundraising. Full time missionaries receive a monthly paycheck based on a standard amount plus a cost-of-living adjustment. They also receive medical insurance, a pension provision, and other items such as housing and travel costs. All provided by our Faith Promise Pledges through the World Evangelism Fund.
Everyone is encouraged to take home an "Alabaster Box" (a small cardboard coin box) to collect their loose change in, and then bring it to church on Alabaster Sunday, which happens twice a year (Feb and Sep), for the Alabaster Offering.
The Alabaster Offering provides funds for property and buildings around the world. While we understand the church consists of the people of God and not a building, buildings erected for the purpose of ministry help provide a sense of permanence, functionally enhance ministry efforts, and convey an attitude that the Church of the Nazarene intends to "put down roots."
The entire Alabaster Offering goes toward the purchase of land and construction of churches, schools, medical facilities, and homes for missionaries and national workers. Alabaster funds help provide land for many Work & Witness projects.
Work & Witness Mission Projects
Work & Witness teams go to every region of the world and partner with local churches in construction projects, technical needs, evangelism and compassionate ministries. These Work & Witness mission trips enable each of us to help build God's Kingdom around the world as we offer our time and skills to a variety of projects.
